Our Mission

The mission of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is to substantially increase the representation of American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, First Nations and other indigenous peoples of North America in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) studies and careers. Founded in 1977, growing the AISES membership above our current 4,800 individual members is key to achieving our mission. AISES supports 150+ affiliated pre-college schools, 190 chartered college and university chapters, two tribal chapters, and 20 professional chapters in the U.S. and Canada. We promote the highest standards of education and professional excellence to widen the STEM workforce and grow sector support. We highlight the geographic, economic, and social aspects of STEM education and careers. We engage and advocate through scholarships, internships, and other diverse programming. AISES has awarded over $12 million in academic scholarships to American Indian STEM students. Learn more at www.aises.org.
