Food Distribution Program
Osage Nation Food Distribution Program
Mission Statement
The Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) provides commodity foods to low-income households living on Native American reservations and to Native American households residing in approved areas near reservations. Many Osages and other tribal members within the Osage Nation live in remote areas where food costs are excessively high; access to SNAP and grocery stores is limited. For this reason, the Food Stamp Act of 1977 created the FDPIR as an alternative to SNAP.
