Visitor Outreach Manager (Exempt Position)

The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association (AIANTA) is seeking an energetic, well-organized self-
starter to serve as Visitor Outreach Manager. This is a competitive recruitment, open to all qualified applicants. Résumés will be accepted until February 5, 2021. Hiring will occur following the recruitment process. The
Visitor Outreach Manager is a full-time, exempt position appointed by the CEO of the American Indian Alaska
Native Tourism Association.

Position Summary:
The Visitor Outreach Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of AIANTA’s Visitor Outreach programming efforts. Domestic and international travel is required for this position. This position will support existing programming and work with leadership to grow the program to expand impact and reach. The Visitor Outreach Manager will support AIANTA’s outreach, marketing, technical assistance, training and participation at travel trade shows and complete other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 Organize, perform and manage tasks necessary to support AIANTA’s CEO, staff and AIANTA’s partners in
supporting, growing and evaluating AIANTA’s Visitor Outreach program offerings.
 Works with AIANTA’s leadership and staff in updating and expanding AIANTA’s Visitor Outreach Plan.
 Works with AIANTA’s leadership and staff to identify program support opportunities and program revenue.
 Works with AIANTA’s CEO and Program Development Director to prepare and implement a data
collection/evaluation plan for the Visitor Outreach Program.
 Assists in developing and managing an overall Visitor Outreach program budget.
 Supports all AIANTA program areas and departments to further AIANTA’s mission.
 Research, identify and engage participants for AIANTA’s Visitor Outreach program training and tradeshow participation opportunities.
 Builds strategic partnerships to support AIANTA’s Visitor Outreach programming.
 Provides outreach and marketing to tribes, tribal businesses and tribal members for participation in
AIANTA’s visitor outreach training opportunities and to participants in the domestic and international tourism marketplace.
 Submits information on domestic and international tourism opportunities, market research documents,
helpful hints, etc., to marketing staff for inclusion in blog posts and marketing materials.
 Develops and supports a formal, consistent schedule of tourism training programs to include webinars and
formal training programs in each of AIANTA’s regions.
 Develops and implements Familiarization Tours.
 Facilitates and supports tourism trainings (local, regional, national and international).
 Enhances and implements schedule and content for pre-show trainings.
 Identifies and engages training partners to support program participants and provide experiential training
experiences at domestic and international travel and trade shows.
 Coordinates trade show logistics with venues and vendors.
 Attends travel trade shows to represent AIANTA and support program participants.
 Identifies and provides outreach to potential tourism partners at trade show events.
 Collects trade show data from participants and develops corresponding reports.
 Shares trade show leads with participants and follows up on leads for the organization.
 Develops and conducts program surveys to inform programming.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Management, Marketing, Hospitality
or closely-related field and a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in the travel industry (hospitality,
tourism management, marketing, business management, etc.).
 A minimum of two years of experience and knowledge of domestic and international travel and trade
marketplace.
 Demonstrated customer service background and skills.
 Knowledge and background in tourism trade shows.
 Proficiency in Microsoft products.
 Flexibility in schedule to accommodate training and travel and trade show participation.
 Resourcefulness and ability to develop and manage a program budget.
 Demonstrated communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
 Basic understanding and respect for tribal customs, traditions, values and beliefs.
 Strong work ethic and sense of initiative.
 Effective communicator and listener.
 Good organizational skills and ability to track multiple projects.
 Must pay strict attention to detail.
 Must possess a valid passport or have the ability to obtain once hired.
 The ability to drive and have the ability and willingness to travel is essential.
