Environmental Director

Job Description:

The Seneca Cayuga Nation is accepting applications for an Environmental Director. Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, the Environmental Director is responsible for administrative management, planning, decision-making, implementation and final approval for products and deliverables within the Nation Environmental Programs. Qualification to do lead Based Paint
Inspections, Risk Assessments, lead Hazard Screens, and Asbestos Inspections preferred. Must have
experience managing personnel and be able to work independently and with others as well as good communication skills, organizational skills and strong computer skills, including common Office Programs. Supervision duties will include but not be limited to the following: field data collection, data
entry, processing analysis and reporting under the Seneca Cayuga Nation’s Water Quality Monitoring Program. The Environmental Director will review scientific studies and proposals, wetland
identification and delineation, water and sediment sampling and testing, assessment and reporting.

May also be utilized in the NRDAR Program and participate in several tribal consortia regarding NRDAR.

Other duties may include adding support to the Recycling, Open Dump Remediation, Indoor Air Quality Monitoring, Climate Change Adaptation, GIS, and any other programs the Environmental Department may engage in. Experience in Water Quality Monitoring under EPA’s Tribal CWA 106
program will be an advantage as well as competency in basic scientific principles involved with water chemistry, biology and toxic substances.
