Job Description:

The cook will prepare appetizing breakfast, lunch, supper, snacks and catering for special events. Maintains a clean and proper work environment according to state codes. Delivers food to residents in dining room and take food orders. Responsible for busing table, washing dishes, and ensuring that the kitchen and dining room are clean.

Must be able to respect elders residing in the assisted living center, their guests, and coworkers. Must be able to create a pleasant dining experience by having excellent culinary and customer service skills. Must be well organized and able to complete kitchen duties independently. Must follow the approved menu, recipe guidelines for restricted diets, and special resident requests. Must have knowledge of nutritional guidelines in order to serve appropriate meals for those on restricted diets. Must know how to read and follow recipes, how to measure ingredients and serving sizes, and how to keep food at recommended temperatures. Must ensure that food and other dietary items are stored appropriately and ensure the kitchen and dietary equipment is sanitary. Must follow cleaning schedules, keep inventory, ensure all necessary supplies are available, check deliveries, and appropriately store items. Must keep temperature logs and keep other documentation as directed. Performs other duties as assigned.

The cook will report to the Certified Dietary Manager.
