4th Annual Gathering of Little Turtles set for June 23-25
The Culture Committee is gearing up for the 4th Annual Gathering of Little Turtles to be held June 23-25 in Wyandotte, Okla. Watch for upcoming information on the Nation’s website (www.wyandotte-nation.org) or Facebook page (www.facebook. com/WyandotteNation), for the Lacrosse camp to be held the week leading up to Little Turtles.
4th Annual Gathering of Little Turtles Families, grandparents, aunts, uncles and elders, plan now to attend the 4th Annual Gathering of Little Turtles Friday through Sunday, June 23 – 25, starting at 1 p.m. Friday and ending at approximately 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Gathering of Little Turtles is for all citizens with activities geared toward our youth, and will be held at the Cultural Center (located on the Southwest side of the Bearskin Gym).
Activities will start with welcome and introductions at 1 p.m. Friday, and will be a fun-filled weekend for all. Dr. Steckley and his wife Angie are returning to teach our languageand of course their animated stories. Many activities are planned, including, Lacrosse, pinch pots, beading and social dancing, to name a few. We will have a lock-in available for families to stay overnight Friday and Saturday nights.
Friday night we will once again have a cookout. Meals during the event will be provided to those attending the Gathering of Little Turtles, as well as T-shirts for all registered youth attending. This is a free event, open to citizens and their families of the Wyandotte Nation.
Registration is required to allow sufficient supplies and food for the weekend event. Registration will start May 1, on the wyandottenation.org website. Register no later than June 3 to ensure T-shirts for youth and to be enrolled in all crafts classes. Those registering after the June 3, may not receive T-shirts, or some crafts may be limited. Please watch the Nation website for registration and the final agenda, starting May 1.
